Amazon Stranded Inventory from a Listing Error: Fix Guide

Diagnose listing status, offer data and FBA inventory links before trying to relist Amazon stranded inventory without creating a duplicate ASIN.

Separate inventory from listing status

Stranded FBA units can exist while the offer is inactive, deleted, incomplete, restricted or attached to a changed catalog record. Save the stranded reason, SKU, FNSKU, ASIN, quantity, marketplace and first observed date.

Check whether the detail page still exists and whether the seller SKU is connected to the expected ASIN. Avoid creating a new ASIN until the original mapping is understood.

Classify the broken layer

Use the reason code as a starting point, then confirm it against the current listing and inventory screens. More than one layer may need correction.

  • Offer issue: price, condition, fulfillment or account status prevents sale
  • Listing issue: required fields are missing or the SKU was deleted
  • Catalog issue: ASIN, brand, category or product identity changed
  • Compliance issue: product requires review or documents
  • Inventory issue: units are reserved, unfulfillable or mapped incorrectly

Repair the existing record deliberately

Restore the required listing fields, relink the correct SKU or resolve the named compliance issue through the available workflow. Keep screenshots and processing reports for every change.

If a flat file or integration manages the SKU, correct the source system as well. Otherwise the same stale data may recreate the error.

Verify sellability and accuracy

Confirm the offer is active, inventory is sellable, price and condition are correct, and the public detail page represents the units in fulfillment centers. Monitor the quantity until the stranded status clears.
