How to Report a Counterfeit Product on Amazon
Connect brand rights, seller identity and test-buy differences before submitting a counterfeit report through Amazon Brand Registry.
Verify the report target
Record the seller ID, offer, ASIN, marketplace and fulfillment method. The ASIN may be legitimate while a particular seller supplies a disputed unit, so make the report target unambiguous.
Confirm the reporting account is authorized to act for the rights owner and that the relevant trademark or other right covers the territory and product involved.
Connect the test buy to the seller
Preserve the order confirmation, delivery record, shipping label and unboxing sequence. Compare the received unit with an authentic reference of the same model, generation and region.
- Packaging construction, print quality and security features
- Serial, batch, model and manufacturer identifiers
- Materials, dimensions, components and included accessories
- Warranty, instructions, inserts or digital verification results
- Any safety or performance difference supported by a record
Write observable findings
Describe each difference and point to its exhibit. Avoid using price, lack of distribution authorization or a foreign-language label as the only basis for a counterfeit conclusion.
If the evidence instead shows a materially different regional product, condition problem or inaccurate listing, choose the route that matches that issue.
Submit and preserve the physical evidence
Use the reporting route currently available to the rights owner, save the report ID and retain the item. If the report is rejected, compare the response with the rights, seller and product evidence before resubmitting.
